Firstly - Happy New Year and a big thank you for being here with me as we enter 2026! I love sharing these curated snippets of inspiration :)

In today’s Creative Fix I have a few delights for you, all loosely based on the theme of SPACE. January always feels like a long month (in the Northern hemisphere at least) and instead of seeing that as a bad thing this year I’m framing it as a time for breathing space. The madness of the holiday season is over and the shorter days generally mean a slower pace.

It's cold out there, but that's no excuse to skip the creative work. I grabbed my pencil and sketchbook and headed outside to gather some inspiration. In this video, I chat about photography, the value of working within time constraints, and why sometimes the best thing you can do for your creativity is to just get out there - even when it's freezing.

STUDIO NOTES | CULTIVATE

Do you have a word for the year yet?

It took me a while but I think I’ve settled on CULTIVATE.

I have a tendency to plant lots of seeds and then walk away - this year I’d like to see those ideas bloom and flourish - see things through to harvest. Cultivation isn't rushed or forced - it's patient, intentional care that allows things to grow at their natural pace. This is what I’d like to focus on - both in my own creativity and in nurturing a community that does the same. I also love how this word connects me to the land and the seasons as I plan on spending a lot more time in outdoor spaces this year.

I’ll be sharing more on this as the year goes on - in the meantime let me know if you have a word for the year? We can check in and keep each other accountable!
